Work continues

[Janice writes:]

Tom did not know this before he arrived, but he is a steamer specialist. He used a steamer to remove the old wallpaper in the kitchen.

Here is some wall paper that was found behind one of the cabinets.

The kitchen used to be a bathroom, and the tiles are the original ones and still in great shape. What tiles now-a-days last for over 100 years?

Yves dismantled the old cupboards from 1987.

Some brute strength was required to break them up, so they could be taken down the curved staircase to the outside, piece by piece.

The plumber came to shut off the water.

Tom cut lengths of a special grid-like wallpaper to apply to the walls that are not in good shape.

Notice the special textured wallpaper on the left. Bonnie continues to paint.

Bonnie is still painting.

More painting.

The radiators are a particular challenge.  She used a bent brush to get into the tight places.

Last evening was the final session this term for Janie's English class, so they celebrated with a "garden party"; however, the weather was so cold and rainy that it had to be held inside. Bonnie and Yves went and enjoyed the feast. Lunch today consisted of leftovers from the party. There were some for dessert at dinner too!
